I paint pinups. That’s what I do for a living.

Now, this concept applies to all art. Not just pinup artists.

Some artists create entirely from their head. More power to them! If that’s you, then that’s pretty amazing.

I can’t do that.

I need inspiration. Real life inspiration.

My models are real people. Even my outdoor scenes are based on real places.

My wife and I travel a lot. No, we’re not rich. We’re actually very average.

However, we spend all our extra money on travel. My car is a piece of junk that runs. I don’t feel the need to impress anyone with material objects.

I buy a lot of my clothes secondhand. When we lived in California, we’d literally find barely used Nordstrom clothes for under $5 because the person wore it once or twice and got sick of it.

When traveling, whenever I see a beautiful scene, I whip out the cell phone and take a few pictures. Those are the backgrounds you’ll see in my paintings.

Anyways, back to the point.

Beauty matters. If you paint tropical sunsets, you don’t go to a toxic waste dump for inspiration. You save up some money and go visit those places.

Likewise, since I’m painting pinups, I’m going to use the most beautiful models available, assuming we get along.

How it all started

I got lucky.

Allie was a co-worker of a friend. I noticed this absolutely gorgeous blue-eyed blonde and absolutely had to talk to her.

I met her when she was almost 20. We’ve been friends for awhile now and she’s actually the very first person I drew.

I don’t even remember how it came up but she looked through my comics and liked what she saw. Then she took the initiative and asked me to draw her.

Looking back, I think she wanted me to cartoon her. But I drew her normal instead.

She liked it so much that she convinced me to become an artist (I was a struggling cartoonist at the time). So I did and the rest is history.

Today

Today, she’s a mother and chooses to remain anonymous. You know her first name and you know that she used to live close by me in California. And of course you know what she looks like.

That’s it.

She doesn’t want to be famous. She just wants to be a wife and mother.

Diana, Katie, and Sophia are all public figures. They take their Instagram accounts seriously because those accounts lead to money. They make their money modeling. Katie also runs a teaching business and Sophia is also a B movie actress and fashion designer.

But Allie is a family woman now and her family comes first.

She still models for me when we get together. We live in different states now so we’re not seeing each other at least once a week like we used to.

Allie is proof that a mom can be sexy. Her husband is a weightlifter. He actually lifts a lot more than I do as he takes it seriously. I just lift weights because I don’t want to die anytime soon. Yes, I enjoy it. But I’m not half as serious as he is.

Her husband trained her to tone her body. She modeled for me only six months after her baby.

She looks fantastic!

I’m not going to tell anyone which paintings were before baby and which were after. You’re free to guess. I won’t answer though.

The only hint – her boobs are slightly bigger now. That’s about it.

Her cup size went from small C to a more full C. She has a flat stomach already and the rest of her body looks great as well.

Personality wise, she’s easy going, honest, and easy to get along with. I keep hearing weak ass men tell me that beautiful women are stuck up. That’s complete bs.

I always get along with beautiful women. Actually, I can’t think of a single beautiful woman I don’t get along with. Yes, there are plenty of women I don’t get along with. But beautiful ones? I honestly can’t think of a single one.

I think the reason why these guys think they’re stuck up – they put on a show and she saw through their bs.

I know “be yourself” is cliche and everyone makes fun of it nowadays. But it’s actually good advice. I don’t put on a show. I’m the same person on this blog as I am in real life.

I’m also honest. And so is Allie. That’s yet another reason we get along so well.

Do what you enjoy

So the whole point of this article is to tell you to do what you enjoy doing when it comes to art. The more you enjoy doing something, the more you’ll enjoy spending your extra time doing it. And of course, the more time you spend on something, the better you’ll get.

I gave up art in junior high when the art classes were so freaking boring. They taught stuff that I didn’t care about. I barely passed them.

I’m still amazed that we’ve gone through hundreds of years as a nation and still can’t figure out how to make school exciting. It should be.

When I start my online classes, I’ll make them exciting. You’ll be excited to check them out.

I’m not going to make them dry and boring. I’m not going to use big words that make me look smart while confusing my students. I’ll make the concepts easy to understand and more importantly, easy to apply.

I strongly believe that doing that will get better results. That’s what I want. I want people who took my class to highly recommend me because they actually learned something useful.

Going back to Allie, I enjoy drawing beautiful women and painting pinups. It definitely helps to have beautiful subjects to draw.

I’m blessed that Allie is one of the closest people to me, as well as being one of the most beautiful women on the planet. Sometimes I wonder if I’m doing her justice. If you saw her in real life, she’s every bit as beautiful as she is in my drawings and paintings. And she’s got one of those melting smiles.
