I tried something completely different with my latest painting.

I initially drew with pencil. Then rather than inking and erasing the ink, I painted watercolor over the pencil.

After finishing the painting part, I inked with a Micron pen.

Here’s how it turned out:

Allie
Allie – pencil, then watercolors, then inked

Do I like it?

Well, it’s different. It looks very Pop Art like something Roy Lichtenstein would paint.

My wife says it looks like a comic book.

I might keep this style for awhile. We’ll see. The ink really pops out more so you have harder lines than before.

So anyways, that’s inking after watercolors. When you ink before you watercolor, the ink will be prevalent, but a lot more subdued compared to inking afterwards.
